Ebooks
eBooks are an exciting venture for Salt Lake City School District, and we are excited for the learning possibilities they offer.
We have a collection of more than 2,000 ebooks with hundreds of fiction titles to support literacy and Language Arts reading objectives. The ebooks were acquired to be a resource for K-8 core curriculum in the areas of Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and more.
The eBooks in the SLCSD collection are not special books created expressly to be in electronic format. They are regular book titles---just like the ones in any school or public library---only they have been digitized. So in other words, the ebook version of Polar Express is exactly like the hard copy version of Polar Express with the same cover, same title page, same content, etc.
The district's ebook collection is geared to K-8 students, and the ebook titles were purchased to support K-8 core curriculum. The ebooks do not "check out". They are simply read on a computer screen within a web browser. All of the ebooks were acquired through Follett Library Resources. The ebooks are viewed/read/used through a Follett eReader interface. All that is needed to view the ebooks is a computer with internet access.
